G! Festival 2010

Posted by admin | July 19, 2010

On Friday we went to the annual G! Festival and even though the weather wasn’t as good as it has been the previous years we still had a great time. For us there were especially two interesting names on this years festival and they were Eivør (Faroe Island) who played on Friday night and Nephew (Denmark) who played on Saturday night. On Friday we went to G! just to have a great time with friends and without a camera. The only regret on Friday was that we had no camera while Eivør had a concert. She was amazing as always and with the voice and look of a goddess she would have been a pleasure to photograph. On Saturday we photographed a wedding during the day time and later we went to the G! festival with our cameras. All the photos shared on the blog are from Saturday.

Two weeks ago Nephew had a concert at Roskilde Festival in Denmark with an audience of approx 60.000 people. On G! we were around 4.000 people which in our opinion made concert very intense. In the end they got Eivør on stage and the crowd went crazy. If you have not heard Nephew and Eivør together on stage, here is a link to a youtube video recorded earlier this year.
The Ghost is another great Faroese band. Miriam and Filip, the lead singer grew up in the same street as kids. The Ghost have just released an new album. Check their facebook page here.

Nana yaa Deku

Posted by Miriam | July 06, 2010

One thing that makes my heart melt is to see a father´s love for his daughter. A lovely mother or lovely family is a blessing. But what catches my eyes is when I see either a father or a grandfather with his little girl. I don´t know what it is and why but to me it´s simply beautiful. Then when I get a chance to document that kind of love.. my heart melts again. As I sit down every time I want to blog our photos it´s always a struggle to write what my heart wants to express. That is why I love quotes from people whose english is spot-on and from what they say they at least sound smart :) Here is one simple from George Herbert “One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters.”

Elisabeth & Heri Maternity

Maternity. Both of us love capturing this special time in a mother’s life and we love it even more when the father is willing to be photographed as well and to see their shared love for this unborn baby.

Elisabeth M. owns the salon and has great visions for her work as the styling in this photo shows. If you are getting married in the Faroe Islands then make sure to contact her about hair and make up.

Confirmations 2010

Posted by admin | June 06, 2010

After moving back to the Faroe Island we are still working our way into the Faroese photography market. Because the population is only 48.000 people, any photographer working here needs to be very flexible and able to adjust to different assignments.
One of those adjustments for us were confirmation photos, so here are a few of our best shots.

Guðrið & Regin

Posted by Miriam | May 28, 2010

Here are a few of our favorite images from the wedding of Guðrið & Regin. Guðrið is a great Faroese musician. Make sure to visit Guðrið (http://www.myspace.com/gudridhansdottir) myspace profile to hear her beautiful music. Regin is a young entrepreneur who already has had great success with his ideas. But that’s not all there is to him. Regin is also very active in politics on the Faroes.

We read about Regin´s proposal in one of the local news papers and were very pleased when they decided to ask us to photograph their wedding. Guðrið looked stunning in the 70s inspired dress that she bought in Texas when she was on tour.
The dress, same as the couple, was very original and that is something I love to work with. Every costumer is his own person and has his own personality and style, and it is then my job to give it my all to make that originality come to life in the pictures as well.
Originality that is truly original is something every photographer in his or her right mind loves :)

A few weeks before the actual wedding, we did a “pre-wedding” photo session with them. Here is a link “Mary-Ann & Høgni Pre-wedding”. Having worked together with a couple before always leads to better photos on the day.
Thanks to Mary-Ann and Høgni for allowing us to be a part of your special day. We are very happy to have met you guys.
